Getting out of the studio – Nursery Visit

Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Dingle Nurseries in Welshpool. It was an hour’s journey for some of us, two hours for the rest, but it was more than worth the travel time.

We currently have a number of projects on the go and are reaching one of our favourite stages of the process: planting. Designing a garden, producing drawings and plans, and working through the long build phase is incredibly rewarding, but there’s nothing quite like seeing a space begin to fill with foliage and colour. That’s the moment a garden quite literally comes to life. As our excitement to begin planting has been building over the past few weeks, we planned a visit to Dingle Nurseries, where we were shown around by our amazing guide, Tom.

Tom’s knowledge was extraordinary – there was seemingly nothing he didn’t know – and he completely enhanced the experience for us. It’s rare to meet someone who shares the same level of enthusiasm and passion for plants, but Tom knew every inch of the nursery’s 350+ acres and ensured the day ran seamlessly from start to finish. We even managed to find time for a lunch break and try some of the amazing food at Derwen Garden Centre.

Despite the freezing temperatures, the four of us trekked through the mud, rows of trees as far as the eye could see. We were finally able to view in person a number of trees we had already selected, and along the way we found ourselves inspired by several truly stunning specimens.

For enthusiasts such as ourselves, this truly felt like an amazing day out. Despite our years of combined experience, we can safely say we’d never experienced such a fantastic location as this.

We only want to provide the best for our clients gardens which is why we handpick our trees to ensure the structure, coverage and colour are just right for every unique project.
