3 Questions Before You Enquire

Before reaching out to us, most people assume they need fully formed ideas about their new outdoor space. In reality, the most successful projects start with just three clear decisions. Getting these right early, before anything is designed, saves time, avoids expensive changes later, and leads to a far more resolved result.

We take on a select number of projects every year and from the very beginning, we want to be entirely on the same page as our clients so every finished garden achieves a perfect result.

Consider the following three questions:

1. How you want the garden to function
(not just how it should look)?

A beautiful garden that doesn’t reflect how you live quickly becomes underused. Whether your main goal is entertaining, prioritising family life, or maximising privacy and peace, clarity on function should guide every design decision that follows. Our philosophy is a garden should be an extension of the home – ideally useable throughout the year and providing exactly the space and facilities you and your family need.

2. What level of involvement do you want in the process?

Some clients enjoy being highly involved; others prefer to place trust in the us and be guided. Neither is right or wrong but knowing this upfront shapes how the project should be approached for us and for you. A massive benefit of White Mosaic having a studio space is that you can come and see for yourself a number of material samples and experience our designs not just on a large screen but in VR. We have a lot of clients who highly value the experience of the entirely design process, enjoying every moment of picking out colours and textures for their new space. Other clients may love to be led by our years of experience and trust in our visions – some people live busy lives or don’t have room on their plate to make heavy design decisions. After getting to know you, our valuable knowledge and experience means we can easily take the reigns.

Have a think what level of involvement you would benefit from for you new outdoor space.

3. A realistic sense of scale and investment

You don’t need a final budget, but understanding the level of investment you’re comfortable with helps ensure expectations, design ambition, and outcomes are all aligned from the beginning.

When you come to see us in the studio we can give you an in-depth look at some of our previous projects with costs so you can get a feel for how far your budget would take you. Our fees follow a nice simple sliding scale which will allow you to have the prior knowledge before committing. If you haven’t already, it may be a good idea to download our free guide ‘What Does a Garden Cost’. Even though it doesn’t give specifics and should be treated purely as a guide, it will certainly give you a good first idea and get you one step closer to making your enquiry.

By now you should have a better idea of what you need to consider before getting in touch. We understand that a new garden is a big investment and not something to be undertaken likely, not just due to cost but potential disruption to your life whilst the space is being worked on. We can say for sure though that it’s always worth it. A stunning garden may add value to your home, but more importantly will add value to your life. Having a beautiful, useable space that fulfils your needs is priceless.
