How We Work
Below is a typical project schedule, which gives an idea of how we work.
- Initial studio consultation /design brief
After your initial enquiry we will produce a basic survey using satellite technology for the purposes of a design and build estimate.
For larger sites, we may commission a sub-contracting professional survey team. For smaller sites, surveys are conducted with our in-house team. The site survey records all measurements, key features and areas of note. If required, this service will be quoted as a separate fixed fee.
We then invite you to the studio to give you advice on how achieve your aspirations, with a view to forming a design brief, and confirming a level of investment for your project.
- Mood boards and concept plans
A collage of materials in 2D, articulating moods, textures and colours, will be created, which allows the client to see possible visual direction before committing to plan.
Once the outline plan is approved by the client, we can commence detailed design work.
- The presentation plan
Our final presentation plan accurately details all quantities and materials for hard landscaping, calculating and making note of any finished levels. Any bespoke features will require separate construction details.
- Construction details
For bespoke features like garden lighting and buildings construction, details are a must. Our construction detail plan ensures that the proposed feature is fully articulated to the contractor, and ensures they have an accurate design sample to build to.
- Planting plan
Planting mood boards will be provided. This plan shows exact positions of plants and a plant schedule (plant name, quantity and size).
- Written quotation for hard and soft landscaping
Once all plans are signed off we can start an accurate costing of the full build and construction schedule (based on the estimate level of investment indicated above). At this stage we can provide you with a fixed price (unless changes have been requested).
- Construction of hard landscaping
A designated project manager will regularly attend site to ensure all external works are carried out to our plans and high standards.
When the hard landscaping schedule is complete. We can begin soft landscaping using the approved planting plan. We take care of all plant deliveries, ensuring materials are of good health, and that quantity, size and species are correct before setting out and planting in correct positions on the plan with any necessary aids to establishment.
